The Photo Forum Gallery, founded in 1986, is Pittsburgh's only privately held fine art photography gallery. Under the direction of Eric Mendelson, the gallery sponsors an average of eight exhibitions a year, spotlighting internationally, nationally, and locally recognized artists of distinctive vision.
The goal of the Gallery is to present the work and ideas of art photographers and to increase public awareness of the importance of photography as an art and an investment. The gallery hopes to illustrate the integral role of photography in contemporary culture.
The Gallery houses one of the area's most extensive photography collections. Portfolios of such masters as Edward Steichen, Aaron Siskind, and Harold Edgerton are available for viewing, as are representative photographs of more than 20 other artists.
